A comment from one of our members:

Like many early french-learners I have spoken to, I have struggled most with the process of listening: hearing the words that come at me (many of which I could pick up on a flashcard) and making sense of them in their context. And then shifting from the very structured and perfectly spoken CD audio attached to textbooks I have bought ... to real French people talking. thefrenchpodcast really fills a gaping hole in my studies for this. The Beginner level chats are great. They are not so fast as to be intimidating, but they are still perfectly natural, with pauses, normal conversational sounds and backchanneling breaking up the speech pattern. Once I try to get as much as I can from simply listening to the audio, I then have the transcripts to fill gaps and progress. Highly recommended.
